Not many combat vets left, mostly a few SNCOs. Most of the guys he was with had been on a couple deployments but nothing major. The USMC has pulled the SP-MAGTFs, so most of the deployments now are to Oki or to MEUs. His first deployment was with a single squad in a very, very bad place where they took constant fire but were never allowed to directly engage. When it got really bad, they returned to their SP-MAGTF doing TRAP (rescuing downed pilots and planes). Only one from his squad is still active service as a combat instructor. My son is a reservist.

I would image other services are similar. Army may have more SF combat vets because they are a much bigger service.
